Ok, I know I’m terrible at posting once we get home! Sorry, but life gets in the way, and I get very unmotivated to write once I get home! Our trip back from Colorado was uneventful and filled with coffee, french fries, more coffee, some tea, and a long drive! The night before we left, I did pop out of bed quickly after remembering the empanadas baking away in the oven. At least we remembered and didn’t wake up in a smoke-filled kitchen! They weren’t overdone and were fine for lunch on the way back.
Once back home, we slept in a bit the following morning. Still, Amanda was back to work by the afternoon. I left for an overnight stay in San Antonio to attend a mandatory railroad propaganda class the following day. I didn’t unpack or pack anything else; I just grabbed my bag and left.
Amanda’s heart issue, while minimal in Colorado, reared its head quickly once home. While she was leading the Wednesday kids’ ministry, she didn’t feel well. She felt lightheaded and thought she could possibly faint. Once the opening was done and everything was going well, she left for the house. It seemed that with less activity than in Colorado, her blood pressure was low with the newer and higher dose of heart medication.
Her rate is still soaring high; just today, she mentioned it got to 170 while leading Sunday morning worship. This hasn’t been the only issue, either. She spoke with our primary via text message and explained the ongoing problem. He wanted to rule out anxiety before we perused anything further with the heart. He put her on an anxiety medication though last weekend. When checking in on her Monday, Amanda informed him the medication didn’t help. He said to stop it since it would have worked quickly if anxiety were the culprit.
We have an appointment with the transplant team on Tuesday to see what they have to say and if they can figure out anything about the high rate issue. We’ll leave Monday and stay one night unless we have testing, which would keep us longer. This issue seems perplexing, so I really hope we come back with answers.
We have our heartiversary trip coming up next month. This will be her 4th transplant anniversary. We’ve celebrated all of them on the road with a trip. We are going to South Dakota this time. We will base out of the Custer area just southwest of Rapid City. I went to book an Airbnb a couple of weeks ago but decided to hold off until after the Houston trip to see what the doctor has to say. I’ll provide more updates on our Houston trip and what the transplant team has to say as it progresses.
