We made it to Houston this evening. We’re all checked in the hotel had dinner a just chilling out now. The surgery is at 3 tomorrow afternoon but we have to be at the hospital just after lunch.
We’re staying in our usual hotel, just a block away from the hospital, but not the same type of room. We had to book the room last minute because we didn’t know when we were coming up till Thursday. So they were booked on the regular rooms and most of the hotels around were full also. We’re in a small suite with a kitchen.
This room brought back so many memories from a previous medical trip to Cleveland where we stayed a few months. We originally thought we were only going to be there a couple weeks. After 2 weeks in a hotel we rented a small furnished apartment for a couple of months. Both Amanda’s health and being completely broke from having to stay that long in an apartment away from home limited what we could do. So needless to say we spend many hours in that little apartment. This hotel room is so much like that apartment. I can almost smell the curry in the furniture, I think we were only non arabs staying in that complex!
We will stay here till Tuesday afternoon and then head home. We should be out of the hospital tomorrow evening. This should be a quick procedure but we’ve had many “quick” procedures turn to marathon ones before. Hopefully this one will be a quick in and out procedure. We could use a easy non complicated hospital stay right now.
When Amanda got out of the her last surgery the pain in her pacemaker pocket was the worst for the first few days. Due to previous infections they buried her pacemaker deep under her muscle. This was great to ward off a potential infection but not so great when they had to go back in and cut through all the muscle and scar tissue. She had a pain pump placed where they went in her side so that helped with the pain in that site but not in the pacemaker pocket. She had just regained a good bit of motion in her arm on that side but this procedure will be a setback. Not sure if it will be better or worse going back in only a few weeks from the last surgery.
I’ll be updating tomorrow as she goes back and through the day. Prayers please for quick procedure with no complications and for the pain to be less than before.
