Finally home, we left after lunch and got here around 6:30. Even with the long drive I’ll never complain though; it’s still much closer than when we use to go to Cleveland. The ride wasn’t terrible for Amanda. I had her securely fastened in with multiple pillows surrounding her! She napped most of the way, we stopped once for fuel and potty break. A little to much walking for her I think. Her leg is still tender and sore.
The trip was uneventful. A little delayed getting out of Houston, a 16 lane flashing red light. That was fun and took about 30 minutes to get through! I planned it where we would miss 5 o’clock traffic in San Antonio. I’ll just be honest Amanda is a horrible road trip partner! She’s not much of a talker on trips and we’re doomed if I ask her to navigate. Our road trips consist of me constantly rambling on about everything and singing, we sing a lot. Mostly silence today with her napping except for the 1 man concert I was preforming. It was pretty rough and down right scary without Amanda singing along though!
As I was talking things out on the drive home I realized how fortunate we really were with all that happened. No one was expecting Amanda’s coronary arteries to be blocked. They weren’t and haven’t been looking at them, at all. We know the blockage was caused from one of the open heart surgeries. Most likely the latest, 2 and a half years ago. Even if not I’d still like to blame it on that surgeon, neither of us liked him very much! So with no one looking for this, Amanda could have had the surgery and the artery would have still been blocked. The last surgeon didn’t have a cath done before the surgery but this surgeon wanted one, otherwise the blockage would have never been found. The blockage was below only one branch off from that artery so most of the artery’s supply was blocked off 95%. This was literally just a heart attack waiting to happen. God is so good and we are so fortunate they found it.
Amanda is all tucked in her chair now with Zoey, one of our boxers, snuggled up next to her. The dogs were both happy that we got home. Amanda seems to be feeling a little better now. It always feels good to get home.
