Adjustments

I know, I know, y’all have probably been wanting an update. We are home, but not for long; we head back to Houston on Sunday. We took it easy Wednesday morning, waiting for things to thaw out. Amanda needed to take it easy getting ready, as well. She asked me to move a chair to the bathroom so she could sit while fixing her hair. The only chairs in this hotel are bar height, but they worked out well for her. The hotel robe also fit her much better than me!

As Amanda got ready to leave, I ran a load to the car. I was parked across the street, so it was a quick walk. Amanda asked if I would bring the car up front to get her. I would have had to make the block and fight the valets to let me park there while I went to get her. So, we just walked across the street, only a hundred or so feet from the front door across the narrow street to the garage elevators; I was parked right next to them on the top level.

The car was already running. A parking spot stalker was there waiting for us to leave, though we weren’t even to the car yet! Cars were honking, waiting for them to go, and they asked me if I was leaving while I was rummaging through a suitcase to get Amanda a sweater. I’m the kind of person who will wait till hell freezes over before leaving my spot if you’ve stalked me through the parking lot. The waiting behind an empty car, holding cars up, and then rushing me deserved the same treatment. They didn’t stand a chance, and I’m sure the ten cars behind them appreciated me moving them along!

The roads were light, and I assume the storm still scared people. As the diuretics kicked in, we stopped Katy for a bathroom break. After getting all the grime off the car at a wash we have a subscription, too. I ran into HEB to grab some veggie sushi for the road. It was an uneventful trip to San Antonio; we have our particular stops now with extra diuretics making extra stops.

Once in San Antonio, we made a stop at another hospital. YJ, our pastor and friend, had a fall that caused a minor brain bleed and had been taken to San Antonio for monitoring. We hadn’t needed the wheelchair yet but didn’t know how far the room would be, so we thought it best to wheel Amanda. It was a bit of a trek, and I’m glad we took it. Seeing YJ was good; he was in good spirits and in better shape than I was expecting.

We stayed a while and needed to grab some dinner before we left town. Being out of the medical center area, we had to think of where to eat. There was a plant based burger joint we hadn’t eaten at in a while, so we grabbed a couple of burgers from there. They were great, but it was a little hard for me to eat on the interstate. However, once things slowed down out of town, I dug in!

Tank was happy to see us when we got home but didn’t feel good. He wouldn’t eat even though it was hours past his dinner time. We all got in bed, and he was shaking; I think he may have had a fever. He was also panting heavily. Amanda ended up having a moment. Seeing YJ in the hospital, and with Tank sick and having just put Zoey down, she was emotional and crying. Tank seemed to need to go potty, but he’d just go out and then come right back in. Much to Amanda’s dismay, he curled up on me to sleep. She misses her cuddle bug, Zoey!

In the morning, Tank seemed better. He finally did his business outside. I’d been telling Amanda there was nothing to worry about last night, so I told her this morning, “See, he just needed a good poop!” I got a good bit of union work done this morning. As the secretary/treasurer, January is filled with reports for me to file. Amanda finally saw that her pain meds were called in but not to the pharmacy in the right direction, but we had friends who could pick them up for us.

Today, we had to make a run to the chiropractor. Amanda secured an appointment last week. They usually fit me in if I go with her; thankfully, they did just that today. The chiropractor was in shock when we told her the latest with Amanda. She said that she didn’t even know it was possible to have rejection this far out. I think many have been feeling the same and have been shocked that this happened to us. The chiro said Amanda was a little easier to adjust, not as much fighting against her as usual. I, on the other hand, was a different story. She had to ask her husband, another chiro, to come in and adjust my lower back and hips. He had no luck either; I guess the 30 days of chair sleeping had caught up with me!

We stopped by our treading place to have our eyebrows done. Yes, me too! I have to keep my unibrow in check! It’s an authentic place with an East Indian lady who was watching a Bollywood show and frequently has hands that smell of curry. If left unchecked, my brows would grow into the old man with a mustache above the eye kind of eyebrow! I was long overdue; she chastised me for not coming sooner as soon as I walked in.

Once home, I made dinner. Amanda requested the broccoli cheese soup I’d made last week and a grilled cheese. While eating, Amanda had an issue with her jaw. It was popping in and out of place. The same thing happened last week. It was out of place, and whilst eating a grilled cheese, it popped back into place! This is among the myriad of side effects of the Soliris. We settled in for a movie after dinner. Tank, who was back eating and feeling much better, settled into his bed between our chairs.
