Well the night was about par not horrible but not great. Amanda had a little pain but they quickly got her some pain medicine. My hospital recliner wasn’t the best by far but I’ve slept in much worse at a hospital, including waiting rooms and vehicles!
They ended up not removing the tubes left in until 6 this morning which extended her bed rest all the way till noon. Putting her in the bed only able to sit up to 30% for over 20 hours. We saw the fellow early this morning, he was happy with the outcome of stent placement. Mid morning the interventional cardiologist, doctor that placed the stent, showed up he shared the same opinion. He was still taking about how the artery occlusion was odd and was likely from a previous surgery. He’s the artist and loves to sketch out what he does during the surgery, which is much appreciated.
We then waited around for the main cardiologist to show for most of the day. Not much to report, Amanda has just been sleeping the meds off most of the day. I think the medication they use to make her comfortable in the procedure tends to mess with her emotions a bit. She’s in better spirits today and more comfortable with the decision of the stent. Once off bedrest she finally got out of bed a little after lunch. She was slow moving and her a chest began to hurt after getting up. Nausea also set in quickly but dissipated after an hour or so. Same scenario when she got of the second time.
Both the doctors that we had seen said we’d go home today. They we’re leaving the final discharge order to come from the main cardiologist though. He finally showed up around 4 or so and echoed what the other doctors stated. Plan is still the same: see how things go and how she feels. Hopefully there will be some relief. They think the improvement will be seen with the chest pain she’s had with exertion over the last few months. The cardiologist wanted to see us in 4 week and the interventional cardiologist wanted to see us in 2 weeks. I think we’ll just stretch the one a week and shorten the other and go in 3 weeks so we don’t have to make the long drive twice.
We ended up having a neighbor move in next to us in the afternoon. Public service announcement for visitation of hospital patients: granny doesn’t need to see all the grandkids after surgery or for them to to ask her if she’s asleep every 30 seconds. Nor does she need you to make phone calls bed side or to smell you’re over bearing perfume. What granny needs is rest so let her do so. Ok rant over, I just miss the sweet old couple from yesterday!
We were discharged shortly after the cardiologist left. It was a fairly quick discharge and didn’t take long for them to get a wheel chair to transport her to the car. I grabbed our bags and went to get the car, Amanda showed up soon after the valet brought the car around. Much quicker than our last discharge where we waited 4 plus hours to be released after the doctor said we could go then I waited an hour in the car for them to get a wheelchair and bring Amanda down. Discharges can be the pits sometimes especially when you’ve spent days in the hospital and are ready to go. I’m glad today’s went smooth.
We had one prescription to fill for nausea medication. The first pharmacy I went to was backed up and couldn’t get it out today but the second one came through.
I love the hotel we stay at its close to hospital just the block over. I would imagine we’ve stayed 50 plus night in the last few years. A majority of the staff know us and welcome us back when we arrive, many by name. The last couple of years I book the cheapest room and they will always upgrade us to a one bedroom suite free of charge. Which is nice I can sit in the living room and close the door and not disturb Amanda if needed. It’s not a expensive hotel not cheap beauty but they do have valet and bellhops. When we arrive I just tell the bell what bags to get, give them the key to park the car, check in quickly, and have them bring our bags up behind us. This makes things so much easier when we’re getting out of the hospital like today. That way I can just focus on Amanda. She jumped the gun on me today and got out of the car while I was checking in, before I went back get her though. The receptionist then quickly got us a wheelchair without us even asking.
I think Amanda might have a little appetite now, I’ll head out here in a bit to grab some dinner and pick up the prescription. We’ll likely come home tomorrow. No schedule just leave when we get up, which won’t be early! I plan on staying off work and home with Amanda a few days after we get back. I’ll try and be a little better than I’ve been about updating when we’re back. We get home and well you know life, it just happens. This is an amazing community of support we have in y’all that care enough to check in on us. We love and appreciate you all!
