Amanda was diagnosed with a heart condition 13 years ago. Throughout the years she has had three new heart valves, four open heart surgeries, five ablations, and six pacemakers, with a grand total of over 50+ heart related surgeries and procedures. Her native heart has reached the end of its serviceable life and doctors are now referring her for a heart transplant. She is currently admitted for a lengthy stay at her transplant center in Houston.
Once Amanda gets the call, she will spend approximately two weeks in the hospital following the surgery. We will then be required to stay within 30 minutes of the transplant center for an addition two months, minimum, for the initial phase of her recovery. All this is in addition to the frequent trips to and from Houston we have been making to manage her condition in the mean time, until a heart becomes available.
Although Amanda’s heart may be failing, her ability to love and to serve has only strengthened. The desire of Amanda’s heart is to serve the Lord, and we are confident that her new heart will give her an even greater ability to do so. She gives all glory to God for bringing her this far, and for placing such incredible people in her life, such as yourselves. The love and support that you all have shown to us is amazing. Thank you for being here, for loving us, and for being such a blessing in our time of need.
