Well, I guess it’s time to update on Amanda. First, the lack of medical posts is a good thing; everything is going great! It’s so good to be nearly three and a half years out of transplant, with doctor visits decreasing each year.
She did have an elective procedure three weeks ago, a long-awaited Lasik vision correction procedure. Amanda has wanted this for some time and is very happy with the results. She’s been so pleased to always see without glasses or contacts!
She just had her three week follow up with our local eye doctor and is doing great. He said there was virtually no chance of her having complications now. Her vision is about as close to perfect as you can get, he mentioned.
I’d thought I would never have it done, but I’m certainly considering it now. The first week was terrible for me after Amanda’s procedure, though. She just wouldn’t shut up about how she didn’t need glasses to see the TV at night, or could just wake up and see, and so on, all while I’m over here looking for my glasses!
We’ve both been busy with work lately, but we’re taking off for a bit of time away this week. We’ll be going to Pagosa Springs to spend a little time in the snow-covered mountains on a beautiful property out in the country without a neighbor in sight. We’ll follow our time there with a trip across Texas to Houston for follow-ups with the transplant team and vascular surgeon.
I’ll post to the journal as we spend time in Colorado and travel for the follow-ups. We’ll try to be more active on our Unabandonded social accounts as well. This trip will be much slower than most of our trips, so hopefully, we’ll have more time to keep everyone updated.
