Amanda’s surgeon, Dr Lamelas, from Miami, is a recent addition to the Texas Heart Institute at St Luke’s/Baylor in Houston. Newly added as the chief of cardiac surgery. He has pioneered minimally invasive valve repair surgery techniques. We met this surgeon for the first time today. All of the consult was done by phone and email to keep us from traveling back and forth to Houston, about a 6 hour drive from our home. We were both pleased with this new doctor. As we have learned, the God-complex runs thick with heart surgeons! This doesn’t seem to be the case with Dr. Lamelas, who’s wife is his PA and works closely with him through all his surgeries. Which I’m sure helps keep him humble, this is why I like Amanda as my partner in ministry. Sometimes we need our spouses to bring us back to reality! Dr Lamelas wife, Shay, was a lovely lady and was very helpful with questions.
