On Hold

This morning I set my alarm 30 minutes later than I thought I did, so I had no time to spare. I got ready and checked the bus text line, it showed a bus would be there six minutes past the hour. I could make it so I took off. I checked halfway there, it had moved up two minutes; I knew it would be tight. I was about 50 feet away when I saw the bus pull up and drive off! Once I finally got off the bus, I got off at the right stop this time, I started making my way toward the hospital. I passed up a shorter gentleman that had gotten off at the same stop. I had to wait at a light to get across. Once over the intersection I passed the same gentleman again, he’d taken a different route. I’m sure he could hear my leather soled cowboy boots clicking from behind as I approached. As I was going by him, I said maybe I should have followed you! Holding up an umbrella and shaking it, he said, “OH,” laughing in a thick oriental accent.

Our favorite NP came by today to fill us in. The current rounding or should I say non-rounding transplant doctor does his job from a “distance,” she mentioned. The PA was the only one from the team we’d see. She also said when Dr. Nair saw Amanda in the schedule for the CaridoMems, she asked why she was getting one. He wanted to consult with Methodist before they did anything since he didn’t want to possibly hurt Amanda’s chance at getting listed with them. I had wondered the same and thought Dr. Nair was in the loop, but he wasn’t. Evenly we’d learn he canceled the idea for now, we may know more tomorrow, and see if there is still a chance of putting it in. The PA said she was on all week and thought we’d be here through the week before a discharge. She wanted to ensure Amanda was dry before she let her get discharged.

I had to run back to the apartment in the early afternoon to meet up with the internet provider tech. I hadn’t been able to get the internet up, something was wrong on their end. On the walk from the bus stop, I got a call, it was the tech, he was there a little early. I let him in when I got there and he got to work. It was a line not connected in their box. It was quick, and I think the WiFi calling should get me by for railroad calls. I had the door open while the tech was working. I heard a cat meowing loudly. It sounded like a cat I had pet the other day, he would do barrel rolls on the ground while I pet him. I looked out the door to call him over and saw a maintenance man grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and putting him in an apartment. I guess he was crying to be let in! I’m praying we can find someone in the complex to watch Tank when I’m at work and Amanda is in the hospital.

I had to drop off the apartment check list. It was in great shape, I had Renee check everything when she was here to look for any issues; that is usually Amanda’s job. We only noticed one nail hole and a pen mark. I did hit the list for every room’s paint. You could tell some paint had been touched up and not blended well, but I didn’t want to be hit for that when we left. I also noticed a few other little things, some I fixed, and the property manager was like, huh. I guess they don’t have many people to do that. I also asked about the assigned parking spots and mentioned there were people parked in them. The leasing manager was all fired up about it, she was ready to jump on someone! She asked what the car was parked in the one I wanted. I couldn’t remember the car, but I remembered the plates were from Ontario. She said Oh, that’s the lady for 334 I’ll let her know right away, not to park there. I didn’t want to cause a stir, but now, however, the 334 lady hates us! I come in at all hours, and we’ll need to get Amanda in and out close to the apartment, so we need a spot we know will be open.

After that, I cleaned the bedroom we will use. I had been throwing things in there to get them out of the way. I unpacked a few things and now we have a box closet with all the boxes we came up with stuffed in a small closet. I moved a few other things around to get room for the bed, the frame arrived today. I think the bed arrives Wednesday, so I wanted to be ready to put it on the frame when it arrives. It’s a foam bed in a box so it needs time to expand when unboxed.

I’m about to catch a bus back to the apartment, hopefully the one I need is on time tonight. I will work on the bed frame and set the TV up to wifi now that we have that going. It’ll be nice not to have to go outside to send a text or make a call tonight and to be able to actually use the internet!
